She doesn't have friends or family to do this for her, and wants to stay living independently in her condo for as long as possible. She has a part-time personal assistant to help at home and with errands, but who is not willing to take on financial tasks.

I wonder if you should direct her to a licensed and bonded fiduciary. Choosing a fiduciary needs to be done with care and loads of research and background checks. Perhaps call an estate lawyer for a referral.

There are licensed fiduciaries to help with this. This is not without cost, but they do take care of all accounts, payments, and it is often a great relief to seniors. The cost is likely about 90.00 a hour. If this is done there is a contract and records are kept. Your friend should visit her bank officer to ask for advice on who to contact. Many seniors are without family or trusted friends to do this care. My brother's ex partner has had a fiduciary for many years; it's a great relief. As he has needed more care all has been handled by this gentleman.

Does she have a CPA? Some CPA's will do this service. We had the family CPA help my MIL while hubby and I were off traveling for months at a time.

Call your County Office of Aging. They maybe able to put you in touch with someone or even have an employee that can help.

The personal assistant may not want the responsibility because she doesn't want to be accused of stealing. Smart person.

I worked in credit. This would have been something I think I would have liked to have done.
