I am using my mothers money to pay for private care, other then paying the health aide by checks, is there something else I should do?

If you are paying cash to these aides out of your mother's money you are asking for trouble.You have no real documentation that the money is being spent on her behalf.

Do you have a written agreement with these aides? That plus the cancelled checks should be convincing. Are your siblings suspicious and not trusting you?

I don't understand why the social security administration would be concerned. Are you her authorized SS representative? Have they asked for proof of what the money is spent on?

Or are you thinking about future application for Medicaid? A written agreement would be very useful for that purpose.

I want to provide proof to siblings & SSA that her money is being used for her care. I write on the check for aides that it is for private care aide. I am wondering if I should do more?

Stop by occasionally, if that's possible, or have a friend or relative check in on her. There are "nanny" cams, if you want more reassurance.
