It is covered by Medicare part B, with a doctor's order. Talk to the MD and your cell phone carrier.

It's helpful it it will be used. My mother had one some years ago. When asked where it was she didn't know. It was either hanging on a door knob or in a drawer.

I just phoned Medicare and they said they do not cover these devices. I called the phone number on my Medicare card--is there another number I should call? Thank you.

Jocelyn, if your spoke directly to Medicare and they said they do not cover these devices, chances are those devices had been taken off their list a couple years ago.   The original post you read/answered was 3-4 years old.

I had doubled check the Medicare website medical list of what is covered, and such devices are not on that list.

It was recommended that you contact your secondary/supplement insurance company to see if they might help with some of the cost.

I don't think Medicare covers these devices. They cost about $30 upward per month. Contact your Dept if Aging but in my experience as a Home care nurse, there were no resources for this: maybe if she is indigent she (you) can research programs that I am not aware of.
