If I want to have a private conversation about my Dad's health with his physician can the physician do this? I need to bring up symptomps that I believe would agitate my father regarding possible signs of dementia.

Unless your dad has given the doctor permission to talk to you, he won't (or shouldn't, because of HIPAA rules). But what you can do is send a private note to the doctor ahead of time, so that the doctor knows what is going on. I have done this with my mom. I gave it to the office manager when I checked in and asked that she be sure the doctor read it before our appointment.
