My husband has bad health and now sleeps for most of the day. Because of this he is developing pressure sores. Any suggestions? The doctor has given him antibiotic cream and barrier cream which I am applying. He is unable and unwilling to move far from his chair. He has a stairlift so that he can get upstairs. He is also bowel incontinent and has a catheter.

Find Care & Housing
My aunt is on hospice for a couple of years now. She has been sitting too much and developed three stage one sores. Her hospice team ordered her a hospital bed with an air mattress. They provided some ointments and my cousin said she was “airing” the sores by leaving her mom’s pants off for awhile each day. She’s also using a lavender oil and says the sores are healing. I used the cushion for my mom like CWillie suggested and she never had a sore but she also got up several times a day to walk about. You can only do so much but if your husband doesn’t qualify for hospice perhaps he will for home health and you can get some help getting these cleared up.

When my mom developed pressure points from spending the day in her wheelchair she got relief from a ROHO cushion - get the best one you can afford.

i suggest a quality foam cushion that you can tear chunks out of to relieve the pressure points somewhat . muscle mass is being lost and bones are ' smashing ' against skin .
