I moved back home 6 months ago and I have noticed my mom gets confused easily now. If she doesn't stick to where she is use to going she gets lost or turned around very easily. She gets very frazzled then acts confused. I've been taking notes on what's been happening. When do I get my mom's POA involved without my mom getting upset?

I agree with everyone.

My one concern is that ur not the POA. This makes its hard if u end up being the Caregiver and someone else is the POA. If you end up Caregiving, I would make sure that there will be enough money to continue her living in her house. That u can work and have aides carrying for Mom. You will need time to yourself. If she has money, maybe an AL will be better.

Clearly her POA is someone she trusts to handle EVERYTHING for her. Not sure if you are talking health POA or financial, but this person should be CLOSE to your mom and already informed. If she is not I am uncertain why she is the POA. This is the time for testing, and putting in place things for Mom's safety. The time to begin to act is now. This could be simple aging plus anxiety. Or it could be more. Time for find out.

I'd say, get your mom's POA involved right away. You don't have to tell your mom that you're doing so, just do it discreetly if you think she'll get upset as a result. She will have to go to the doctor, though, to see what's going on, so the sooner you let her POA know, the better.
Best of luck!

One of the first things to do is get your Mom to the doctor for a check up. Lots of things can cause confusion a wide range from medications, UTI, mini strokes, dementia. But the first thing is to get her evaluated.
