I take care of my elderly father. Up until recently my brother, myself and my 10 year old nephew lived with my father. My brother has moved out with his girlfriend and I have custody of the 10 year old boy. Since my father is homebound it is difficult to work outside the home. I have asked my brother for help, but he says he is too tired after work. I do not get along with his girlfriend so unless he can bring her with him he won't come. I would like to take my nephew out to a counseling session once every two weeks, but I can't afford $20.00 per hour. I am feeling very frustrated, angry and disappointed. None of these feelings bring happiness and I am finding myself becoming more depressed. If I could get a break now and then it would help me very much.

Thank you so much!! I contacted the Salt Lake County Aging Services and have an appointment to meet with someone on Thursday. All depends on how many volunteers live in the area. I am sure someone will be able to help. Again, thank you so much for your suggestion.

You need a break for your own sake. Try calling one of the social service offices in your community. Some of them have a few free respite hours. If you have an RSVP office (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) in your community, they often offer Senior Companions who would sit with someone like your father. Try your church, as well. They may have volunteers. Good luck. I hope you find some help.
