No notice of premium owing on a PDP and consequently disenrolled after non payment. Humana says they were not informed of our change of address nearly 3 years ago, Yet I periodically get pamphlets and information from them, with sent to my wife (the insured) at our current address. Some extra help we were getting ended in Dec 2014, but we received no notice of a Premium being assessed or due, and found out we were dis-enrolled, when trying to fill a prescription last Friday. My wife is diabetic, and we can not afford to buy her meds without this coverage. This is life threatening. CMS told filled out a complaint and sent it to Humana, but say it may take 30 days for them to respond, and we still may not get coverage. What can I do?? It is very difficult to control her Blood Sugar with the insulin she needs, and I can not afford $500 per month for the two insulin types she needs.

Did you re-enroll? I think you might have to.

I don't know about insulin, but some pharmaceutical manufacturers offer a little financial relief. Go to the manufacturer's website and see if there's something there. Read all the fine print. It never hurts to try.

Also tell the doctor, maybe there's a less expensive medicine that would be effective. Maybe a generic.

If I do not meet the Special Enrollment criteria, they say I have to wait until the regular period that begins in October. Thanks for your responses. I have left messages with Ship, hopefully they will call tomorrow. Left word for her Doctor today as well. Thank you.

Silt, not exactly true. You have had a life changing event in the loss of your health insurance. My understanding is that you need to contact the Divisionof Insurance part of the Department of Regulatory Affairs for determination in these cases. Give it a shot.
