I am a caregiver for my mom and I would like to move into a place where it does not cost a lot of money for rent, etc. we have fixed income. She is medically ill with CHF and other sickness and that I can get some care for her when I need respite time.

There is a really good, comprehensive list of low-cost housing, on another website called senior living dot org, search under their Lifestyles section for HUD housing. It discusses the qualifications income and disability (or need like CHF).

try your local Dept of Social Services, if you are within income guidelines you can get on the waiting list of Section 8 housing. Alternatively, check with local churches who may be able to provide temporary housing.

It is important to make these contacts NOW as it will help you to develop a plan. Nothing worse than trying to find a place in an emergency. You are left with the least desireable of places many times. And wait lists can be very long.

Your best bet is to contact your local council on aging.... if you live in the States, go to the website link below.... click on your State.... now click on the city/county. The agency should be able to direct you.
