My husband has dementia and I need to be able to go out to my doctor offices and other such places. He panics when I go without bringing him along but can’t handle going out. I need someone to come in and be there for him.

Contact your local Veterans Assistance Commission. They can help determine what benefits you/he are entitled to. It may be a little or a lot depending on where and when he served.
Or you can contact your States Department of Veterans Affairs. They can also help.
Neither of these will charge for their service.
Also contact your local Senior Services center and see if there are programs you may qualify for.

In many cases you may need to hire a caregiver that will come in. If he does not need a lot of "care" at this time you can ask for a "companion".

Also look to find out if there are any Adult Day programs in your area a few days a week at a dy program will help both of you

Call the main number for VA at 1-800-698-2411 if you're not near a medical center or clinic. Ask for Social Work or just tell the operator you need home care for a vet.
There's a geriatrics care page on the VA website which explains various programs that are available. And there are resources for caregivers.

You'll need his DD-214 if he's not already enrolled in VA.

Best wishes to you both.
