Does your mom have dementia?

If your mom has dementia it might be a good idea to go to your local police station and let them know so they have a good idea of what's going on if she calls them again. I've known a couple of people who have had to do this when there's a loved one with dementia who dials 911.

It's a good idea to let the police know, but in the future you could still end up getting arrested and jailed until they figure out what really must have happened, followed by court dates and legal bills--even if you truly never touched or hurt her. Can you afford the damage to your finances, emotions and career? If it were me I'd put her into some other sort of care that would allow me to keep a large distance from her.

By the way, I had a friend who was married with two step kids. During a family argument the 16 year old step son called the police and told them my friend had hit him. The police had a rule that anyone accused of domestic violence had to be arrested for safety's sake so my friend was handcuffed and hauled away in a police car in front of his family and neighbors. He spent a couple of nights in jail and had to call in to miss work because he was incarcerated. This was a gentle, passive man. He was later cleared and the step son admitted that he'd lied, but my friend was traumatized forever and still weeps when he talks about this.

Definitely contact the police department to let them know the situation. When mom calls they are still required to respond, but they would at least have an idea of what they are walking into. I had to do this with my situation. On my, the delusions. Mom once tried to physically throw a caregiver out of her home with the phone in her hand threatening to call 911. Mom at this point was not able to use the phone, she couldn't remember how it worked.

Also call your Area Agency on Aging to have an assessment done of mom. They may be able to offer suggestions.

Just a thought. I do not imagine having Alexa in a home where there are people with dementia living.😕
