We are looking for a company that can give her the care she needs. I am very nervous about who we hire due to an unfortunate experience which resulted in her having to go to the ICU.

If you answer yes to my next questions, then consider her no longer safe and that it is time for MC?
If there were a fire in the house, can she get out alone?
Does she need 24/7 care?
Are you able to monitor the household if someone does not show up? And likewise, can you replace someone for the shift?
Does she have deep pockets up to 200K a year..
Are you planning a few hours of care each day? If yes to just a few hours, go back to my first question.

As to your second question, no we cannot give a recommendation when we are caregivers all across the country plus a few internationals

For care you need to look in your own area. Contact care.com, or agencies providing care in your area. In this search the internet will be your friend. I sure wish you good luck and am so sorry about the bad experience. It may be time to consider real in-facility care. Only you can be the judge of that.

Honestly, vigilance is needed whoever you chose. There are many resources like your State's Aging office that can help you find needed services. But how well that works out comes down to the individuals providing the service.

I see that Missouri participates in the National Family Caregiver Support Program which provides information, training, and respite for caregivers. Likely they'll start with an assessment of your mom to give you as comprehensive information. But that may be a good starting point.

The main number on the website* is 573-526-4542 or 1-800-235-5503. There's an email, info@health.mo.gov.

Best wishes in timely, helpful, results for you and your family!
