She needs help with toileting and opening boxes (from mail order items), and she uses a walker, but her knees have been gone for 10-15 years. Assisted living didn't offer 24-hour service for toileting, so I moved her to memory care in the same facility and she is livid. What should I do?

If she doesn't have dementia (which is what I assume "excellent mental skills" means), why did you move her to memory care, and why did a memory care admit her?

If she does indeed have some dementia, don't sweat it. The place should have activities that are appropriate to her skill levels. Make sure you ask that they put her with a group of higher-functioning residents. Bring her books, magazines, ask them to give her some small jobs to help out -- anything that keeps her engaged. As time progresses, she'll fit in very well with the others.

One idea is to consider a board and care. In my area the board and cares are assisted living in homes in residential neighborhoods with a maximum of six residents. If your mom is really unhappy at the facility maybe look into these.
