Glenda, That is so frustrating. I often have to call the neighbor downstairs to knock on my mom's door to tell her to hang up the phone. I have made it clear to family that I cannot be there for every issue. I also installed the NEST thermostat, I can control that from my phone. It has saved me alot of trips, time and worry.

Glenda, I agree with Margaret above about a regular old fashion corded telephone.

My Dad had corded and wall phones throughout his house, but in the living room I had him try a cordless landline. Dad would pick up the phone and say "hello" forgetting he needed to press the talk button. Then he would forget to put the phone back in the cradle to charge. After of month of busy signals due to an "open" phone, I replaced that cordless phone back to a corded landline. Target still sells the corded phones.

I understand Dad's frustrations with a cordless phone. I feel that way about Smart Phones, and continue to hang onto my flip phone.

Hi Glenda
I am not aware of any cordless landline that doesn't require the user to either put the phone in the cradle or press a button to "hang up" the call. Maybe it is better to get standard corded phones? That is what we did for my Mother when the cordless was confusing to her. They lived their whole lives being used to hanging up the phone. Some things are too difficult to relearn as people age and are not worth the frustration.
Best of luck
Margaret
