We only need help with bathing and laundry. In the morning right now.

Find Care & Housing
Check with the VA, as your dad may very well be entitled to what the VA calls Aide and Assistance, which would include the help that he is needing.

Please check with your local Veterans Assistance Commission, the VA or your States Department of Veterans Affairs.
Depending on where and when he served he may qualify for a LOT of help from the VA.
And the VA will now pay a spouse to care for the Veteran.
By the way....you say you "only need help in the morning right now" I say take all the help you can get for as often and for as long as you can. Trust me the more help the better you can deal with other day to day things. Not only that but it gets dad (and mom) used to having more help.

Your County should have a VA Dept. If your Dads disability was service related, there should be resourses out there for him. You will need his disacharge papers when talking to a VA rep. Aid and Attendance is only for those Vets that served during a War. Your Dads age would make that Viet Nam.

Your father should be eligible for aid through the Veterans. My mother even received it for home care. If you go on line, you should be able to get information. Also your Congressman’s office should be able to help you. You may also be able to get help through senior offices in your county depending on financial situation. Hope this helps you.

Check this out:

https://www.usa.gov/disability-caregiver

In part, it says:

Get paid as a caregiver for a family member
Some government programs pay family or friends of people with disabilities to help with daily activities, including personal care, giving medicine, cooking, cleaning, and more.

Become a paid caregiver through a state Medicaid program

If someone with a disability already receives Medicaid, their state may allow a family member or friend to become a paid caregiver.
Many states call this a consumer-directed personal assistance program. Each state has different requirements and rules. And the amount the program pays you to care for a family member varies by state.

If you are not asking about family member being financially compensted, call your state’s Medicaid office for more information.

Is your dad a Vietnam vet? If he is and has Parkinson’s, he is eligible for compensation from the VA because Parkinson’s disease is presumed by the VA to be caused by Agent Orange exposure. If that is the case he should also be able to receive home health care.
