My 97-year-old mother broke her hip, had surgery (ball joint) and now she can't swallow. They put in a NG tub today. How long will it be in?

I'm so sorry she broke her hip - that's serious business at any age, but particularly at her age. It's a terrible shock to the body. My dad did that twice! However, he was much younger.

There's no way to know how long the tube will be in. That depends on when and if she can eat and many other things. Keep talking with the doctor. Communication is key here. She may or may not recover from this shock, so ask questions. Each situation is different.
