She sees a medical doctor. She has COPD. Supposed to be on oxygen 24 hours a day. Refuses to use it. Has an emergency inhaler, but that is all. Never uses it. No other medical issues. I have taken care of her 24 hours a day for 8 years. I’m tired. And 63. Thank you.

I’m so sorry that you are struggling with this. Please tell her doctor about her condition. Contact a social worker if you feel the need.

It sounds like she has given up and maybe in her condition there isn’t any hope. A doctor needs to do an assessment to know what comes next, hospice or a facility.

Of course you are exhausted. I can empathize.

Ask for a hospice evaluation. It sounds as though she is done with medical interventions; that is exactly the point at which you want to get Hospice on board.

I did that as well as palliative care. They didn’t think they could help at this time. Thank you.
