Who can provide transport in Central FL to Northern FL and who pays. She is on Medicaid and has medicare. She is bedridden.

Medicaid has to approve the move by coordinating two different counties and the new NH has to have an open bed. You pay out of pocket for the move with an ambulance company and it is very expensive. Don't get your hopes up.

MIL lived in Central Fla and SIL had made arrangements to transport her to Atlanta. So there are transport companies in your area. Yes, its out of pocket. You need to talk to Social Services at the facility ur Mom is at. If you have picked one then the two Social Services can coordinate with each other. You will have to be ready to transport when a bed comes available.

T may be more reasonable to hire a nurse to ride with you if you can put her in a car for the trip.

Why are you moving her? That is going to be very difficult for her even under the best of circumstances and could even end her life.

My nephew is on SSD. Medicare is his primary, medicaid his secondary. With Medicaid he has NJ Horizon and United Health for his perscriptions which he gets help for. He also gets glasses and Dental thru medicaid.

When ur in a nursing facility you have what ever Medical you had before you entered the facility. If 65 and up that would Medicare and any supplimental you chose. Medicaid pays for the cost of you living at the facility.

JoAnn29: Apparently you ARE allowed to have both, but Medicaid allows you to only own $2, 000 of assets.
