Limit the naps! If you sleep during the day, you won't sleep at night. A bedtime snack helps raise the blood sugar, but avoid a lot of liquid intake so she isn't getting up to pee. Make sure her bed is comfortable, if she needs a hospital bed to raise her feet or legs, the MD can order one. We bought my MIL a new hospital bed for $800 online. We had to assemble it, and it works quietly with the touch of a button. Her back pain complaints ceased. Because she has congestive heart failure, she needs to sleep with her head elevated.

When your mother is up at night, does that cause a problem for the rest of the household? Or does she stay in her room and keeps herself busy with TV or reading?......

Just wondering, as some people are night owls. My aging parents [in their 90's] keeps the same schedule for getting up and going to bed as if Dad was still going to work. It's their routine.

Napping is quite common for that age group. Whenever I visit my parents during the day, I catch them asleep in the living room in their favorite chairs :)
