She had a small insurance policy with no cash value. Since she passed away the insurance company paid out to the beneficiary. Will Medicaid request this insurance payout from the beneficiary? She was in a nursing home for a little over a year on Medicaid. She is from Missouri.

Thanks for any help!

Not unless the estate was the beneficiary.  Life insurance policies with no cash value are excluded for Medicaid.

When a beneficary gets the money, he does not have to pay any debts of the person that assigned him. Had this with a friend. She had a 100k insurance policy with her employer. Her daughter was the beneficary and friend thought her funeral expenses would be paid out of the policy. Her daughter refused to pay for the funeral and she could do that.
