Our grandchildren pop in and out, we look after them once a week. My Mother doesnt get up until 11approx 12.00. So they are only around her for about three hours. Sometimes she is ok . but then we get its to much, they like me best, shes old and shouldnt have to have anyone in the house. To much etc.1 hr later its all me. This applys to family and friend, I also shouldnt go out anywhere. I do my best for her but the abuse is terrible. She then crys and after a while calls me and says .Dont tell anyone that its her because its all me.

I'm beginning to see the same behavior in mom. She wants adults only to visit her. I think the activity level of children is more than she can handle. Move her to assisted living where they are all her age. They all move slow, they talk slow and they get along pretty well.

I went through this for ten years with my mother. Pam is correct, it is time for company their own age. It has taken me a year to mend fences with my children and grandchildren. You get so wrapped up with caregiving, you end up forgetting you do have a life with your children and grandchildren.

Thankyou, Im afraid she wont go anywhere without me, and doesnt really like to have sitters. These are her Great Grandchildren, My son is her Grandson. We are all broken hearted.I tread on Eggshells and run around her like a scared Rabbit.

Did you ever babysit? Remember the ones who would scream and carry on as the parents left to go out to dinner? Then they were perfectly fine in 5 minutes. Your mother will be the same. So go out to dinner. Let the sitter put her to bed. Enjoy your night out.

The first time I left my newborn son with a sitter I was a wreck. The second time was better. The third time I was all good and a good steak and salad with a small glass of wine can save a life.
