Well, without food she will die. Try at least to get fluids down her so she will not become too dehydrated. That is the main issue, and visit an urgent care unit and/or take her to emergency. She needs an I.V. to help with dehydration, and they need to find out with testing what is causing the vomiting. Do it ASAP.
My Dad had a similar situation and it turned out that it was due to too much fluid surrounding his heart and lungs. He had CHF(congestive heart failure)COPD. CHFwas the main contributor to the massive fluid retention. The episodes were quite frequent towards his last days. Eventually his condition brought him to the ER/ICU where he remained until his last days, hours and minutes. If your Mom has CHF please get the emergency attention if you have not already! I have found that my Aunt responds to medical people when she won't respond to me. So, don't take a chance. Calling 911 will help you both. It's hard to do but sometimes I find I have to just tell my 95 year old Aunt that she doesn't have a choice. Or, I will tell her I have called the doctor and this is what they said to do even if I haven't called the doctor. So, whoever she listens to....doc, pastor, friends....get them to tell her or you tell her they said to. Don't wait. If it's been two months something could be very bad. And, to emphasize how you can be looked at in this, here is an example. My Aunt lives with me and recently took a fall. As luck would have it, we had Physical Therapist coming in to just generally help her exercise to strengthen her muscles so a PT and a nurse were scheduled for a visit the day after she fell. I was asked a ton of questions and they had to report the fall. I was told "it does look like she feel by accident"...in other words I didn't push her down or anything. So, as sick as our Mom might be and needs to be looked after, you have to make sure you take care of you too by getting her the medical attention she needs so there will not be any question regarding the care she is receiving.Good luck.

Hello all Fellow Carer's, I'm wondering if it is possible for Me to care for My Mother through all stages of Alzheimer's, or does a time come when She will kneed to go into a specialised home for professional care ? Mum had been diagnosed two years ago, and so far is doing pretty well, but I know that the condition will worsen as time passes.

Your lucky she's not died now don't wait call 911 tell them she has done this for 2 mo and you are not taking her home you want her kept to watch for a few days she's too sick to think for her self call her doctor as well if he's a gp ask him for an internal specialist she needs a lot of tests could be lots of things but a 24 hr bug is not it for sure her espocus must be raw by now iI d be surprised if she could eat baby food let alone a real meal good luck honey she's got to go
If your mom has an ulcer that may be leading to a hole in her stomach, this could contribute to the problem if it's not already causing it.
Another possibility to consider is an eating disorder called anorexia. I actually knew one many years ago, and she did the exact same thing you're describing. There were times when she just wouldn't eat, but usually when anorexics eat anything they throw it right up in fear of gaining weight.
I experienced this with my mom only when she eats and I took her to the dr and he said it was due to age and the throat not working like it used to and the food sits there and piles up. She was prescribed heartburn meds and she takes this everyday 30 minutes before she eats and it was a miracle no more throwing up. She has gerd too. Take your loved one in to see what's going on. Could be something worse or as simple as my moms issues. Hoping for the best. Take care
It's Monday. If you elect not to call 911 because this is pretty chronic, she needs to have a medical evaluation this week. Bowel obstruction is the first thing I am thinking about that would be pretty urgent, but gastritis or even metabolic or neurological causes are possible too, and this requires someone to do a full history and physical and appropriate tests based on that. It sounds like she may be staying hydrated, but do you know how much weight loss there has been, if any?
We're going to the E.R., whether you like it or not, via ambulance. Just before they arrive, take her temperature. Lift the skin on the back of her hand, gently pinch it, release. Did the skin return flat right away, or stay in pinched up position? This tests for turgor, whether she is well hydrated or not. Yours returns flat, right? When was her last bowel movement, or is she severely constipated or impacted ? At this point, do not try to treat this at home. That time has come and gone. Report her temperature to the cute EMT's.
Yes call 911 like everyone has advised. My Mom did this and she had H Ployri. She was horribly sick. It is a bacteria in the digestive system. Have you heard of that? They treated Mom In ER and she was better in a few days. Hoping your Mom is better real soon.
Sweetpea, DO let us know what's going on. I understand that it's be going on for a while, but in this heat (I see it's 96 today in your part of Arkansas ), this is not a condition to be fooled with.
Agree with the above, especially what Babalou said. My mother has gone to the hospital by ambulance twice in the last year - once for chest pains and the other for throwing up blood (bleeding ulcer). Both times she refused to go until persuaded by the charming and knowledgeable EMTs. It would have saved her a lot of money if she'd have let me drive her in the car, but she wouldn't listen until the EMS got there.

Call 911 NOW. And do it before something happens and you definitely could be visited by APS.
I think it's time for home care to come in and provide care. Someone with medical knowledge needs to be involved immediately.
