Tereza, urinary tract infections start clearing up immediately after start of antibiotics..... having a clear mind or having dementia doesn't matter in how long the infection will linger on.

The only difference with urinary tract infections in the elderly is that it can mimic dementia. Compared to a teenager who gets a UTI it is just an annoying infection, it doesn't hurt the brain/memory.

My mom, who is 92 and in a nh is always cold and usually wearing a cardigan, no matter what the weather. However, the sweating can be a symptom. Does the home have a nurse on staff or on call? Can they take her vitals, i.e., temp, bp, O2 , heart rate? What are her underlying medical problems?

Tereza the Drs should know what to look for but it is helpful if you notice anything that she might hide from the drs

Pasport the older we get the more we are likely to feel the cold. When she was sweating was it a cold or hot sweat. As long as the nurses know and are monitoring her you can mention it on the Dr next visit also suggest they test her urine for an infection.
