I'm getting really worried. The other day I was visiting Mom and she told me she is getting annoyed with the loud music. I asked her what music and she said these guys come and they play this loud music "boom, boom, boom" and she asked me if I heard it. There was no music. When I thought about it I realized she must be having some sort of hallucination. She is almost totally deaf - there is no way she could hear music when she is inside her apartment. Is this part of what happens with Alzheimers?

AmyGrace, I agree with the post above, it could be she is hearing her heart beat, I had that happened to me once, wish I could remember what I was doing to cause that. It went away after a while.

Or like my Mom when she got a new hearing aid... for a couple of days she said she was hearing something that sounded like *talk radio* and I could understand that... sometimes when talking on the telephone, and its around 5pm, I will get a bleed over from a talk radio show.

Maybe she is hearing her own heart beat? Ask her to repeat it and record it. Does she have hearing aids? Try playing some of her favorite music to see if that helps, orchestra? Classical? Swing?
