I am wondering if this is common.

My mom makes noise...all the time. Moaning, groaning, grunting, panting. It is constant.

Sometimes she sounds like she is in real pain, but says no when asked.

Is this typical? Will this always be happening?

I have had to turn the baby monitor off...I cannot sleep hearing that constant noise. I am not comfortable being unable to hear at all. Don't know how to address that...but, I need to get sleep.
During the day, I am constantly running to her side...she gets loud and sounds like she is in real trouble....only to discover everything is ok..just she is making all these sounds...only louder.

I would always report things like that to her doctor, so they can evaluate what, if any medical issue she might have. Sometimes, due to dementia, the person is not able to report pain. Other times, it is a part of the condition. I'd rely on the doctor for his opinion on this. I'd also, check all over her body to make sure there aren't any rashes, irritated skin, or anything that looks unusual. The doctor may do other tests to figure it out. She could be suffering with anxiety. It's hard to say for sure.

For a few weeks, my mother's face was all scrunched up, like she was in pain. But when asked, she'd say no. I got them to put her on scheduled pain meds. The scrunched face went away. Call her doctor and find out if s/he will order some pain meds.

Common at the end of life, yes. Somewhat like a snore, it is the relaxation or paralysis of the vocal muscles. See "expiratory vocalizations"

Have you asked your mom why she makes those noises?
