Mom (88) has dementia and diabetes 2. Sugar drops to 2 and 3. She is to weak to lift herself up to go to toilet. Has fully control of bladder but constipated. The carers give her Ensure 2 times a day. Any suggestions?

Was this a sudden loss of weight? Is mom in the early or late stages of dementia? Have you spoke to her doctors?

The same thing happened to my mom when she broke her hip in December 2014. She was down to 88 lbs. I insisted her primary caregiver write a script for her to take MAGAISE (I'm probably not spelling it right) - it's pronounced MAY GAZE.... and oh my God what a difference. She eats great now and is up to 102! PLEASE look into this because I was having the exact same problem with my mom wasting away with no appetite, and now...? We can hardly pass a restaurant in the car without her wanting to stop!
