Find Care & Housing
I was talking to a friend about this just this evening, in a way - saying to her that with my mother's various kinds of looniness I'm never sure if it's the stroke, or the dementia, or if the truth is that she's tired and she just can't be arsed any more. Thinking and concentration take effort, physical effort, after all. It would make sense if they need down time after a day spent trying to be more like their old selves.

Sometimes, sometimes not.

Lewy Body Dementia (which is what my husband had) is characterized by fluctuations in cognition. An "up" period could last for a few hours or a few weeks. This could suddenly or gradually turn to a "down" period. I never saw a pattern.
