How can myself and sister have her removed from our brothers house to a nursing home without costing so much money? We are both on fixed income and both live in different states? Hospice , DSS, and others know how my brother leaves my mom alone whenever so shes not safe there at his house in SC Thanks for any help. worried and scared. Cathy D.

If Hospice is in the picture, I'm sure they will keep an eye on her and increase services as needed. If DSS determines there is a safety issue, they will move her to a hospice resident facility. Both will be observant of your brother's behavior. Have faith.

Thanks , but Hospice was in the picture and my mentally ill brother got rid of them! DSS, Adult protective services know of the case, however they want us my sister and I to come to SC and take legal Guardingship over my ill brothers POA, but every call we make to find out how and what to do is costly!! I feel afraid to try and see my mother because my brother is upset with me just don't know what we can do. I'm in Md. my older sister in NC and Mother is in SC at brothers house! Any answers???? WE are both on fixed incomes.

Yes, they WANT you to come, but you say NO we can't come. We can't take care of mom's needs. We can't afford to come and even if we could, we still cannot care for someone with 24/7 needs.

Then you sign off and agree to make her a ward of the state. There is no middle ground. If you can't afford the phone calls, there is no way you can afford guardianship from far away.
