Parents are 77 years old. They have Medicare Part A and B. They do not have Part D, the prescription drug plan. Can they obtain Part D coverage during the upcoming open enrollment period.??

Yes. If they are happy with their Part B provider, it's quite likely they can just call that provider and ask about Part D. They may want to check several providers, however, depending on the drugs they take. They don't all cover the same drugs exactly the same way. Have them make a list of what they take and the doses. Then they can call providers and compare. This is the time to do it, so they should start soon. Take care,

Also, ask about penalties for late enrollment. My mother is 82 and just now being encouraged to enroll. There is a penality for not enrolling on time.
