There is oodles of experience on this site. But more information from you is needed? ....like what "care" is mom needing? What is her income & assets like and will they be within Medicaud limits? Does mom live at her home!
Really just What are you hoping & expecting Medicaid to do?

Medicaid often pays for part-time caregivers and/or cleaning and laundry help. Is Mom on Medicaid now? If so, talk to her caseworker about what she needs.

If you are wondering if it is worthwhile to apply for Medicaid, then please provide more information about Mom's situation.

It depends on many things. It is difficult to answer with our knowing your situation specifically. Every state is different. Even though Medicare and Medicaid are national programs they are managed by each state. You will likely need to call your local area on aging and go through an application and they will advise based on your circumstances.

These may give you a source to start your investigation. As IKORWPA and others indicated, "it depends." It depends upon your state and your mother's specific condition(s). Caregiving (dressing, bathing, companion) is often more difficult to find help financing for Medicare patients. My parents are not eligible for Medicaid, so I've included the Medicare as well. Hope this helps!

I have several friends here in nyc whose elderly parents on medicaid have helpers who come in for a few hours several days a week. They do housekeeping, shopping, meal prep and such.
