Mom has about a month of cash left in the conservator account. I am doing the application for Medicaid.

What are the steps I need to take to inform her private pay health insurance, and any other medical invoice debtors of this "reality". Is there a form letter I send so they can mark her as "medicaid pending" or do I have to let it go into collections. I don't like the collections idea since it makes me look bad as a conservator.

I should add that I am her legal guardian and conservator, so I am not supposed to be financially responsible. (So they say).

A child is not responsible for a parents debts. I think this is a question for medicaid.

The Medicaid app is in progress.
I think I will just start telling the companies as the bills roll in that she is Medicaid pending.

Unfortunately, I am going to have to take over the power bill on her house and property taxes if we can't get it sold before that bill comes.

Does Medicaid say they will pay for previous bills? They may for anything that happens during the app process. Seems to me my nephew was told this. Something like he received his card in September but the date of issue was a couple of month before. Meaning anything falling after issue would be covered.
