My mom currently lives in an assisted living apartment/home and she has been acting strangely and has become suddenly withdrawn. I believe it has something to do with the staff behavior but want to be sure before I address it with the director.

My suspicions are based off of things I have witnessed with other elders care when they thought no one was looking. I believe my mom is not being fed regularly, assisted to the bathroom, etc.

I live in Nebraska but am having a hard finding information on whether putting a video camera in her room or a voice recorder on her wheel chair is legal since this isn't technically a private residence.

I think I'd ask the local police department or Nebraska state police about this.

Since state and federal laws apply, I would consult with a very experienced attorney about it. I might even get several opinions. If you're wrong, it could be rather serious.

That is quite a dilemma, my friend...I would take the advice if the members here & go about it carefully.
I can relate to your apprehension...I used to be on a first aid squad & these couple of elderly women would have to be transported to the hospital regularly for head & face injuries...believe me, that's the only thing, besides the cost, that keeps me from having my Mom in a home...good luck to you...I'll pray for you that things work out!
