Why doesn't KY have a program to pay a non-related person a salary for caring for someone not related?

Tammy, let me as delicately as possible ask why you would be willing to work for an unrelated person for free? I would think the better option for you would be to get a paying job.

Tammy, how did you get yourself into this situation? Can't the person or the person's family pay you for being a Caregiver?

If the person has no funds, then it is time for Medicaid to take over and place that person into a continuing care facility. It's not fair that you do all that work and get zero salary, thus no money going into Medicare or Social Security. And what if you get injured on the job, would the patient have workman's comp to help you out?

Tammy, if you want to be a caregiver and get paid, contact local agencies, find out what training and/or certification you need and pursue it. That's the way to get paid in that line of work. Doing it for free for a friend isn't. There are much better ways to live your life.

Read some of the posts here about unrelated caregivers who provided free care or nominally paid care for years; then the families turned against them.

yes it is my boyfriends father is who"s home i keep up.freqflyer.yes i live here but i do all the work and errands.to do the cooking cleaning.and everything to maintain this house hold. and i dont get payed anything.i even supply all of his food. and i want payed.i got into it with my boyfriend about this yesturday.so should i tell the father to pay me. or the 2 other brothers that do nothing for him? my boyfriend does nothing here.and when i moved in it took a very long time to get it half way decent. please help.thank you everyone.

Tammy, I think what you have there is four men who figure it is a woman's job to do all that without pay. Welcome to the 1950's. The way out is to get a job and get out of there.
