not much out there in the way of governmental support. some states offer a little assistance...contact your office on aging.

Mass. has insurance for low income or no income people. If the person being cared for is on this insurance, they have a program that will pay a family member so much per day to care for them. Not sure about other states. Depending on your parent's income, check with your local welfare office for insurance offered by the state.

In California, if she qualifies for MediCal, they will pay you but it's not much, but better than nothing I guess.
