This got to me “old people network”

Maybe thats some of the problem when it comes to our elderly. They are cared for by people much younger who really can't understand where they are coming from. Having someone close to their age means they have been there too. More in common.

My dad’s amazing helper was found through a local network of ladies who did exactly this type of work. They were hired privately but well known in what my dad called his “old people network” of friends from the community and church.

Before lining up a companion, define what the term means to you and your lo, as well as the scope of time required.

Put together a checklist and expectations. What activities should be offered daily to mom? What happens if mom declines to do them?

We hired a "buddy"for my dad through a local home care agency. She kept him company and freed up Mom to get things done. She would take him for walks, help him with lunch and do activities with him. She was a blessing! She later worked for my FIL until he passed.
