If I understanding this correctly, I don't think so. Uti's can turn septic in days, weeks or even longer, and it's hard to know if it is a UTI because their symptoms can be different then with younger adults. I ran into the same problem with my Grandmother. Dehydration is also common with elderly, because they stop drinking as much water because it can bother them. I don't think it's neglect, but rather life.

48 hours is a long time to ignore a report of concerns. It isn't necessarily a long time for watchful waiting, or conservative treatment.

What was the NH's response to your mentioning your worries about your loved one? Did they come and check her? How many times did you have to report this before something was done?
