It’s been 8 days without anything to eat or drink. Mom is 97, lying back in a hospital bed unable to move, no longer speaks, or opens her eyes. She has been on Hospice since December, 2018 with continued excellent care. My 4 sisters are here and the funeral arrangements are all made. How difficult this is to watch her wasting away. Not looking for answers but wishing I knew why. Didn’t think it was possible to continue living this long without any water.
On the afternoon of the day she died she looked for all the world like a small doll. Her skin was warm and soft (she’d been cold for weeks before), and her room was fragrant with baby oil.
I held her hand for a full hour, neither of us moving. She passed at a little after midnight.
Her death was one she would have sought. I hope your mom’s passing is as beautiful as my mom’s was.

My husband went 41 days without food and 25 days without any drink. Everyone is different, so just say what you want/need to say to her as the hearing is the last sense to go, and may God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
