Yes. My dad is 94 and he was in assited living. Last time I saw him was mid-March. He was using a walker at that time. Dad is one of these guys that liked to eat in the dining room with friends, spend his days in the lobby. Once covid hit, he was confined to his room and no visitors allowed. This is when the downturn started. By the first of May, his cellulitus had flared up again in his legs because of lack of activity. Home health were the only ones allowed in and they put up a big 'Hold everything!' The infection was bad and assisted living did not have the ability to care for him properly, as they were involved with the covid issues and delivering meals to everyone's rooms. He was moved to a skilled nursing facility at that time. Then he fell a week later, created a new compression fracture in his back (not the first time), spent a week in the hospital, and then back to a different skilled nursing facility where he remains today. He can no longer walk and is confined to a wheelchair. His dementia has worsened. For the last 2 months, we have been paying out of pocket because he refuses further therapy. And the leg ulcers continue. We had him prepared to move to memory care in July and after we got everything moved and paid for, another new bout of cellulitus started so the memory care cancelled the whole thing. This whole situation has not been good for him.
