I need to find prices on single person medical insurance.

Find Care & Housing
Several facts are left out or only implied.

I'm assuming that the OP was receiving health insurance through her husband's job, he's either no longer working or changing from employer's insurance to Medicare, she needs to get her own insurance because she's not eligible for Medicare until she turns age 65.

Coverage through COBRA probably is a possibility, but it usually is very expensive. Marketplace plans are a possibility. Depending on where the OP lives, a Marketplace plan might or might not be affordable.

Anyone can go to healthcare.gov and be directed to Marketplace plans for their state. The state sites tend to be relatively easy to navigate; however, this also varies by state. Healthcare.gov also has a page and links for "find local help."

She is not eligible for Medicare at the age of 62. I think that she is speaking of Insurance, as she says. She can be on Medicare at age 65 and she is three years short of that. There are some instances when you can receive it earlier with certain medical conditions, none of which she lists, Sandra.

Call an insurance broker and or ask around at church or your friends and see who they recommend.

Make an appointment with your Office of Aging. There should be someone their who is knowledgeable about what insurances are available to you in your State.

This isn't a forum answering insurance rate questions. We would have no knowledge, as caregivers, of what insurance companies are currently charging. I am afraid that will be your own phone research. I think if this is insurance required, I would find out what sort of resources your state has to help you negotiate checking what insurance you can get at a decent price. Your income and circumstances matter greatly in what you can get. Look up "Medical Insurance guidance for State of _______________" as a try on the internet. For instance, when I do this for my own state of California I get "insurance.ca.gov" as an insurance guide.

Good luck. I can't imagine trying to negotiate all those choices. I hope you find a good guide or have a really savvy family member or other to guide you. You might consider stopping by a local senior center if you have one and asking if any volunteers are around to help. I know they often have tax guidance help. I sure wish you the best.

Was your husband a Veteran? If so, is he rated? ChampVA might meet your needs if your husband is a Veteran. It's free.

VA does not pay for Medical for a spouse not a Vet. I know two men who faught in Viet Nam. They now have Medicare and the VA hospital provides all their health needs. The wives both have Medicare and pay for supplimentals.

Have you looked into continuing the coverage you've had under COBRA? If your income is low enough that your husband qualifies for Medicaid, have you applied as well?

COBRA is expensive and only lasts for 18 months.
