It seems like mil has been in the same crazy loop forever. There are days when I wish she'd advance to the point where she no longer knows us but I guess that's mean. After three years she still accuses FIL of cheating on her everytime he's out of her sight for even a minute. She has been at stage 5 for about 2 years. Some days she's a 5.5 . We first noticed there was definitely something wrong about 4 1/2 years ago. But looking back before that there were signs in her personality. She still has super energy.

The stages are tough. There is always overlap and each person is very different. The area of the brain impacted by the disease makes the symptoms somewhat variable person to person.

My mom is stage 7 but she still talks all day and many nights. It has become more and more of an incoherent rambles over time. She made accusations about my step dad until she was incoherent, but she may still be making them and we just can't understand any longer ;-)

I understand how challenging it but the time will come when you wish you could understand what she is saying.

It's hard to know. This website says average 1.5 years. Other places I've seen say 4 years.
