Looking for in home doctor to visit my dad.

thefarleys4, your best bet is to contact your county agency on aging to see if they have a list of doctors who make home visits.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific, as this forum is worldwide, thus one would need to wait for a caregiver to come on-line from your immediate area who has used a home doctor.

It is such a pain looking for a doctor to visit the house. I called the Office of Aging for the area north of DC, and many on the list were no longer working or they only took out of pocket money, no insurance. A couple accepted insurance, but not Medicare.

If the person you're caring for is a Veteran, you’re in luck. They do home-based primary care. Otherwise, it’s like society expects elders to be in institutions and not still living at home. You can ask the primary care doctor to order home care, and a visiting nurse, PT, etc, will come regularly to the house for a few months. But it isn’t continuous.

This was my experience in Maryland. I hope you have a breakthrough and can share with us your tips in the future!

We live in Akron. Ohio and use Visiting Physicians Association. I believe they are nationwide. They aren’t perfect, but there aren’t many home visit physician agencies.
