I'd become so weak in that situation that I was finally able to get someone to share the 950 a month rent. Well the person turned out to be a felon in hiding. I was able to get another roommate. But not without a 2 wks. Long interview. Well. Guess what? Now I'm not sure if I'm in an even worse situation or not. Without going into complete details. This one cannot produce a valid identification. Claims that the birtcertificate needed to get the I.D. is on its way. Well the 1st time he claims it was addressed wrong. So the correct address should've been here about a week ago. The lies are pilling up. And this person just doesn't seem to be able to remember all of the lies. On top of that. This person is very inconsiderate, rude, selfish, lazy, & sloppy alchoholic. What can I do. My health is declining. Now he's lost his job and claims he starts a new job on the 1st. That's today. Idk what to do. Advice please

I would tell the person that sorry this is not going to work out. You have to worry about your safety first and you have to worry about getting the rent paid for every month. I think that this is all a scam and I would not let this person live with me. If he doesn't seem to understand and still tries to harass you, then I would into getting the police involved, maybe get a restraining order.

Did you try getting help from the local housing authority? Housing authorities do a section 8 voucher ( subsidized rent based on your income) and many housing authorities also have low income properties that you can live in, but a warning, you may not be able to get it right away and you have to be put on a waiting list. But, the waiting list from what I have heard, moves quickly. You may want to continue working with the homeless shelter, They may know of some programs that could help with rent.

You have my prayers and thoughts during this tough time.

Please do not allow this person to move in with you. I’m so sorry that you are having trouble finding a roommate.

I am truly sorry that your health is declining. Rent is high and many need a roommate but you do have to be safe. Can you find an affordable efficiency apartment so you don’t need a roommate?

Are you working with a specific program? In New Orleans there is Unity. The program has rigid stipulations regarding criminals or convicted felons.

Unity is a program here that helps to find homes for the homeless. Most people that use the program are locals but a small percentage have traveled here to apply and have been accepted into the program.

The rent is based on income. If you are working with a program please report this person so they can be investigated and rejected.

I wish you the very best and if you don’t mind I will say a prayer for you. Sending you a giant hug! Take care. 💗
