dead bolt on both sides with key entry... instead of having keyentry on one side, have it on both sides. then get an alarm for the door, engage it when you know noboby should be leaving home. Go to home depot or Lowes. Ace Hardware, or your local lock and key place. Ace is very helpful. You may need to get a professional lock person, unless you do that yourself...

Firt step, look at Lowes, Ace, and HOme Depot. If you don't find anything there, ask your local locksmith

You may want to engage a locksmith or a contractor/repairman to install these.

You need to check with ur Fire Marshall if inside key deadbolts and inside keypads are legal. My cousin did have key deadbolts installed inside but my Uncle was never alone. He had a Caregiver when my cousin wasn't home. Once my Uncle passed my cousin had to take the off because of the fire code.

We used little flip locks hi up. People with mental cognitive problems don't look up.

Fire code always says that you have to be able to exit safely and quickly in the event of an emergency. No double sided key locks are legal, but they sell them. We have them all over our house. You just need keys or code handy for safety.

If someone complained to APS they might tell you to change them. Maybe!

I would install an alarm that dings when the door is open. I like that for a multitude of security reasons.

Hope you find a way to keep everyone safe.
