So why isn’t she eligible for Medicaid?
Is it a financial issue, so it’s that there’s some kind of transfer of assets that is causing this....
OR
is it a medical eligibility issue? so her needs assessment is such that she does not have the documentation to show “at need” for LTC in a medicaid paid facility? Like she’s needs AL and Medicaid paid beds in AL really doesn’t exist as AL in your state don’t participate in Medicaid?

And which type of Medicaid is it that she is not eligible for?
is it community based - so she’s still living in her home or in family members home?
Or is this abt her getting eligible for LTC Medicaid in NH in NM?
The eligibility requirements are different for different programs. So what’s your moms backstory?

Unfortunately Medicaid is the only State program that will pay anything to family caregivers for care at home. If your parent is not eligible for one of those programs, you can see if local churches have volunteers so that you can go back to work. Check with the area agency on aging, United way, or catholic charities to see if any of them have programs. And no state will pay family for 24 hour care.

Yes, what type of Medicaid did you apply for? The criteria for homehealth care maybe different that to receive Medicaid for care in a Nursing home.

Call your local Office of Aging. See if they can help you.
