This is the 3rd time my father has passed out, only to come around after 30 minutes and be ok. Can people fake these symptoms and are they just bids for attention or is it genuine? His blood pressure is normal, all his bloods are normal. I just don't know.
He passed out unexpectedly, once at a gas station, once at church, and another time at home. I took him to the hospital each time, and the diagnosis was always the same: syncopatic episode.
We never did find out what was causing the syncope.
Also, were these episodes in the morning before he had eaten?

What makes you think that this "passing out" has anything to do with a TIA? That would be an unusual symptom for a TIA. TIA usually has symptoms of stroke that pass. And yes, having TIAs do predispose one to a serious stroke as it indicates that there may be occlusion in the carotid arteries. The test to rule this out is very simple and non-invasive and the surgery is quite easy usual and usually very successful.
Call the doctor TODAY.
Are you checking his BP immediately after he has one of these episodes, or are you relying on his stats taken at Dr.'s office?
And if he is having TIA's, they usually will show up on a brain scan, so you might want to request that.
Passing out is nothing to mess around with. Your father could seriously hurt himself in one of these falls, so best to try and get to the bottom of this, sooner than later. Good luck.

If he had had a stroke, he wouldn't be all better after 30 minutes, quite true. But TIAs can be a warning sign of increased stroke risk or even of a stroke building up; so I guess it depends on what you mean by "preclude."
