Earplugs? Don't look at him? Give him the dog's rawhide chew bone? Ask the dentist? Ask the doctor? Move out? Get over it?

I just googled bruxism in persons with dementia and learned that 4% of the people with dementia have the problem of grinding or clenching their teeth. It can cause a lot of damage. The patient being discussed improved when he was given galantamine, an acetocholinesterase inhibitor. There was some talk about why it may have worked. Talk to your hubby's doctor about the problem and see if he thinks galantamine is a good idea. Anxiety medications also help.
