My husband is starting to wander. How can I convince him to stay in the house?

I need my husband to stay in house and wait for bus to senior center- which picks him up in front of house- he gets impatient and leaves the house and walks down the road. Fortunately neighbors have seen him and brought him home. i cannot change my hours at work and don't know what to do. He has dementia.

Hello cprjmr: Is there anyway your husband can sit with a neighbor until his bus comes? Can you ask the rider to perhaps come a little earlier to the time you have to leave him?

You need to find a relative/friend/hired caregiver to be with your husband. Unfortunately and sadly, his dementia is only going to increase.

The bus to senior center picks up quite a few seniors and always varies so they refuse to change their schedule- plus he'd get to senior center too early... I am going to have to ask someone or pay someone to stay w/him.
