I take care of my husband, MS, 62. He is not able to do anything much at all anymore (for past 3 yrs). I came out of my office to find him on the floor in the living room. He had slipped out of his wheelchair. Any suggestions? He has a gel cushion that he slips right out of. I have tried the foam, the thin film that you use for rugs or shelving. Thought of trying the treads you get for ramps, but that will rip up his pants really fast. Can't use the seatbelt because he sits in his chair almost straight out, he doesn't really bend at his waist...any suggestions?

Sit Straight cushion (Alimed) for something similar will work better, but you may even want to ask an occupational therapist for a seating eval, as more extensive (and expensive) supports may really be needed. MS is a tough condition sometimes, looks like this is one of those times, and my heart goes out to you both. I hope you are getting the best medical care possible for it, and I hope something starts to work a little better!

If he can't bend, talk to the MD about some PT to make it possible. It's important to keep range of motion intact. You might also look into a Posey, it is a vest that will help keep him in the wheelchair. The MD can write an order for one, and medicare should cover it.

Don't do a Posey without getting the pelvis more stabilized first though.

You said "bend at the waist", I'm hoping you didn't mean "bend at the hip" - that is quite a bit harder to manage...
