Says he wants to see us together so he knows. This happens in the evenings. His Mum died many years ago. He is amazed I can use a mobile phone & computer and asks who taught me. The other eve he asked if I was staying the night & said there was a spare bed in the other bedroom! Sometimes feels quite weird!

Thank you for your quick reply Lataza. He was only diagnosed in October but is becoming more and more confused especially in the evenings. Often day times are fine. He wouldn't let me sleep with him the other evening as he said he didn't sleep with his mother, and then I wasn't allowed a glass of wine either, as I don't drink!! (His Mum certainly didn't). It did make me laugh, especially when he saw me using the computer and asked "How on earth did you learn to use that?" Bless him. It is so sad, and so hard sometimes to know quite how to reply. You sound as if you are an old hand at the game!

I'm sorry you're going through this. It is especially hard when your spouse has dementia. My husband has had Alzheimer's for I guess about 10 years or more but he still knows who I am. He gets agitated in the evenings.

You probably won't be able to convince him that you are not his Mom so can you just play along with it? That's what I'm trying do when my husband is convinced of something that is not true. Of course, there are some things that I can't agree with but when I do tell him what's really happening he thinks I'm lying. I have learned that you can't win. I also remind myself on a regular basis that he can't help himself.

How long have you been dealing with this?
