80-year-old mother in Massachusetts, on fixed income, in assisted living received a rate increase which she can’t afford. She and her sister are on title of home in which the sister resides. We are considering a possible move to CA to be nearer to us.

Just testing if I can reply to this, having issues.

That worked, sorry, hopefully others can answer you now.

Surprisingly, according to CareScout, a cost calculator provided by Genworth, assisted living is $1708 lower ($7,350 per month) in California than Massachussetts.

Aging.ca.gov has a page, Determine the Best Housing Option For Me, which may be helpful. It includes continuing care community - would the sale of the house enable both sisters to move into a CCC near you? Seems like a good website to start your search.

Best wishes

You will need to talk to Social Services where you live concerning subsidized housing. Its not easy to get. There is usually a waiting list.
